The IRS replaced its old FIRE filing system with IRIS and introduced an Application-to-Application (A2A) connection that allows software like Business Central to submit 1099s directly. The registration process for A2A is not automatic. It requires a separate application, sandbox testing, and a phone call with the IRS before you're approved for production use.
